House of Earth and Blood | Part II (Ch. 8-41)
DISCLAIMER: SPOILERS AHEAD!
Okay, so two years have passed since Danika‘s death along with the Pack of Devils’. Bryce gave up drinking and partying, but it’s clear that she still wants to be perceived as a “party girl”. with the loss of her soulmate/best friend, it is clear why she gave up all the good parts of her life, and why she wants to be suffering; and, I just know that we are going to see her develop and come back to who she was before probably with the help of Hunt.
Speaking of Hunt, his view of Bryce just makes me laugh because he’s so off. Obviously we know that he’s wrong, but he doesn’t and it’s just so funny to me. I love that we see their relationship begin to develop throughout part two of the book and a little bit into part three. It’s lowkey like an enemies to lovers situation kind of. The spice is slowly heating up, and I am enjoying every second - kicking my feet and giggling.
Also, why are so many murders happening? Who killed Danika? Why did they kill Danika? All questions I need answered pronto!
It’s still obvious to me that Bryce is going to somehow be super powerful because they never fail to mention her lack of power, and Maas would never write a female lead who isn’t all-powerful. And, my theory was strengthened when Ruhn saw a halo of starlight around her head and feet when he was under the influence of mirthroot. Speaking of Ruhn, I see a trio forming with him, Bryce, and Hunt, and I am here for it!
And while we’re back on the topic of Bryce, it is so hilarious that she is so persistent in her attempts to fuck with Hunt.
Now, at the very end of chapter 25: the club EXPLODED?!?!?! I mean obviously Philip Briggs isn’t behind this because he’s locked up, but whaaatttt!?!?!?! And, it was Micah she saved the night of Danika’s death?! That’s IN-SANE!!!
It’s clear that trouble keeps following Bryce, I just cannot tell why. She is totally going to be the solution to fixing the horn and declining Fae problem though. I just know it. I feel it in my bones. I mean she is such a badass! Especially at the shooting range! Hell. Fucking. YES!
And, of course I have to mention Sabine, the rat that she is. An enemy of Bryce is an enemy of me. That is all I will say on that.
Quote Analysis:
“Ruhn’s head spun as he narrowed his eyes at her, blinking at the halo of starlight that danced around her head, at her feet. He blinked again, pushing past the auras clouding his vision, and it was gone. Another blink, and it was there.” (182)
This is in chapter 16, and I don’t know if it’s because I am basically looking for signs of Bryce’s power, but this is so clearly a sign to me. The fact that he sees starlight specifically haloing around Bryce tells me that she has some star-born power in her! Whether she knows or not, I cannot tell.
“‘When the Oracle looked into her smoke, she screamed. Clawed at her eyes.’ There was no point hiding it. The event had been known in some circles. ‘I heard later that she went blind for a week.’” (330)
Is it not obvious that the Oracle definitely went blind after reading Bryce’s future because Bryce is the one with the star born power?! I mean, come on! This is just more evidence supporting my case that Bryce is all-powerful.
Anyways, onto part three. Bringing my sleuthing goggles to find more hints of Bryce’s power and to try to solve the mystery of Danika’s demise.
