Classroom Management Monday | Pencil Checkout

I have quickly learned that in order for a classroom to run efficiently, a BUNCH of systems and procedures need to be established and repeatedly practiced.

Thinking of all the ways to do this is quite overwhelming, so today, let’s start with one system that mitigates interruptions during your lessons.

Pencil Checkout:

A system MUST be in place for anything you could possibly think of.

Today, let’s discuss what I like to call “Pencil Checkout”

Placing pencils on a board/wall in the classroom that students know they can borrow from ensures that you are not stopping your lesson every 30 seconds when a student inevitably needs a pencil. Having them sign their name in the box that holds the pencil they borrow (see below) helps you know who is borrowing your pencils (and possibly stealing them if they don’t return it haha!)
